Police are telling students at the Indianapolis campus of Ivy Tech to beware after a series of crimes nearby.

A student from Ivy Tech was robbed at gunpoint Friday night and his car stolen. Then, on Monday, a man was shot and his car stolen less than two miles away.

Now, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is adding more patrols the area on the near north side of Indianapolis, and school officials have posted warnings around the campus buildings.

The filers have safety tips and a number for students to call if they want security to escort them to their cars: 317-921-4806.
