Ivy Tech plans expansion in Crawfordsville
August 31, 2011 No commentsIvy Tech Community College officials are planning a new instructional building that would be the first tenant in a central Indiana city’s business park.
Plans between Ivy Tech and Crawfordsville officials call for the school to lease the building near the Interstate 74 and U.S. 231 interchange from the city’s redevelopment commission.
Ivy Tech Crawfordsville director Geoff Knowles says that the new building will allow the school to offer full programs there.
Ivy Tech now offers introductory courses in Crawfordsville and students must travel to Lafayette to finish a degree.
Montgomery County Commissioner Phil Bane says the new facility will help keep students in the area and attract new businesses.
The new site could open by January 2013 with space for 1,000 students.
