At 11:04AM today, Indiana State Police troopers and Terre Haute City Fire/EMS units responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the 10.5 mile marker.

The driver was identified as Slade A. Spudes, age 20, of Brazil, Indiana. Spudes was wearing a seatbelt and sustained only minor lacerations. He refused medical treatment at the scene. Spudes was driving a white, 1998, Ford Explorer, SUV.

Preliminary investigation revealed Spudes was eastbound in the driving lane of I-70, suddenly veered off the south edge of the roadway and rolled over once. Initial calls to Vigo County 911 reported another vehicle may have changed lanes suddenly and forced the Spudes vehicle from the roadway. That vehicle was stopped by other ISP troopers near the 21 mile marker in Clay County. After further investigation, no enforcement action was taken against either driver.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

ISP Master Trooper Todd Miles investigated the crash. Assisting were ISP Sergeants Chris Wright and Joe Watts, ISP troopers Hans Nowak and Jason Schoffstall, and Terre Haute City Fire/EMS units from Fire Stations 5 and 9.
