The Indianapolis Indians began a key series with the Louisville Bats on Saturday as the Tribe begins its final push for a possible post-season play-off berth.

The Tribe entered play on Saturday seven games behind wild-card leading Louisville with the Tribe and Bats meeting 10 more times in the final 17 games of the regular season.

Louisville won the opener on Saturday by the score of 10-6 as a five run seventh inning broke open what had been a 4-4 tie as the bats used three doubles in the inning to put themselves comfortably ahead.

Pedro Ciriaco went three for five and Brandon Moss went two for four with two RBI as only three of the Indians six runs were earned.

Louisville’s Jerry Gill picked up his second win of the season against zero losses despite working only one third of an inning and allowing the Indians to tie the game in the sixth.

Dana Eveland took the loss to fall to 0-2 on the season.

The Tribe bounced back yesterday as the Indians scored three times in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Tribe rallied from being down 2-1 to defeat the Bats 4-2.

Alex Presley went two for four including a double and his fifth home run of the season for the Tribe.

Carlos Fisher took the loss for the Bats to fall to 1-1 while Steven Jackson picked up the victory to improve to 4-0 on the season while closer Jean Machi notched his nineteenth save of the season.

The Indians are still seven games behind the Bats in the wild card race.

Indianapolis continues their five-game home/road series against their West Division rivals the Louisville Bats on today at 7:00 p.m. RHP Charlie Morton is expected to get the start for the Tribe, while RHP Chad Reineke is the probable starter for the Bats.
