• Indians Hague and IL best PCL in AAA All-Star Game

    July 14, 2011 No comments

Indianapolis Indians first baseman Matt Hague was featured prominently as a miked up player during his five innings of play and drew a second inning walk before traveling along on a three-run homer by SS Russ Canzler as the International League went on to defeat the Pacific Coast League 3-0 in the 2011 Triple-A All-Star game on Wednesday night at Spring Mobile Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Hague was one of several players that wore a microphone for MLB Network’s full audio experience of the Triple-A All-Star game. The Tribe first baseman made himself heard throughout his five innings of play as several of his conversations and comments were featured during the contest.

The Indians slugger also played a key role in what turned out to be the game-winning rally in the second inning. After Charlotte OF Dayan Viciedo reached on an error to open the frame, Hague drew a walk to set the stage for Durham Bulls INF Russ Canzler, who launched a three-run homer to right-center to give the IL a 3-0 advantage.

Indianapolis Manager Dean Treanor also took part in the Triple-A All-Star festivities as he coached first base throughout the night for the victorious IL squad.

The Indians return to action with a four-game series in Columbus against the West Division leading Clippers beginning tonight night at 7:05 p.m. The Tribe then returns home for an eight-game homestand from July 18 to July 26 with contests against the Charlotte Knights and the Rochester Red Wings.
