After a brief four game homestand that saw the Indianapolis Indians split the series with the Gwinnett Braves, the Tribe enjoyed an off day before beginning an eight game road trip. The road swing begins tonight with the first of four games in Rochester against the Red Wings before the Tribe finishes out the road trip with four games against the Iron Pigs of Lehigh Valley.

Indianapolis is currently in third place in the International League Western division with a record of 33-34. After climbing above the .500 for the first time this season earlier in the week, two straight losses to the Braves saw the Indians fall below the mark once again. The Tribe is eleven and a half games behind the division leading Columbus Clippers who have the best record in the IL at 44-22. Louisville is in second place six and a half games back at 38-29 with the Indians five games behind the Bats. The Toledo Mud Hens are in the cellar of the division with a record of 29-38, four games behind Indianapolis.

The Tribe open up tonight with the Rochester Red Wings who own a 25-37 record and are in fifth place in the IL North, fourteen and a half games behind the North division leader Lehigh Valley. The Iron Pigs own the second best record in the league at 41-24.

Pittsburgh Pirates top pitching prospect Rudy Owens takes the mound tonight in the series opener at Frontier Field in Rochester. Owens is 6-4 on the season and has won his last two starts. He’ll face the Red Wings Andy Baldwin with a first pitch set for 7:05 tonight.
