St. Vincent Hospital had reopened early this morning after being placed on lockdown for several hours overnight.

A hospital spokesperson said that on the advice of police, St. Vincent Hospital’s West 86th Street campus was placed on lockdown following a threat made by a patient’s family member. No specific details of the threat were released.

The hospital emergency room remained open, however all entrances were closed. Visitors to the hospital were allowed to leave the building with a hospital security escort.

Shortly after 1 a.m., some three hours after the threats were made, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department lifted the lockdown. IMPD stated that a man was arrested shortly after 1:00 a.m. in the 7800 block of Hoover Road and taken into custody for “questionable phone calls.”
