• Indiana Supreme Court hears arguments in Secretary of State case

    February 29, 2012 No comments

The Indiana Supreme Court on Wednesday will hear arguments today on how the state should appoint a replacement for ousted Secretary of State Charlie White.

White, who was convicted of several felony charges, can’t serve as a result of the felony convictions. An interim was appointed by Gov. Mitch Daniels.

Democrats are arguing that runner-up Vop Osili should take the position, but others are arguing that Daniels should be able to choose the replacement.

Justice Brent Dickson cited conflict between Indiana’s constitution and statute regarding the appointment of a replacement Secretary of State.
