A summer tradition starts today as the Indiana State Fair opens. This year’s Fair features new events and some new foods to tempt your taste buds.

This year’s fair is all about education and entertainment. At the grandstand you will see a lot of interesting acts starting with Marsh Band Day later today.

A look at the entertainment list shows a great deal of diversity: a Monster Truck show on the 6th, Third Day and Mercy Me August 10th, Big Time Rush August 11th, Sugar land August 13th, Janet Jackson August 17th and Lady Antebellum August 19th.

Education is also important. And if you walk into the Grand Hall you will be taking a trip to Germany. You can take in German performances, food and displays. There is even a replica of the Berlin Wall. Be sure you look at both sides to see the difference between East and West.

And it wouldn’t be the State Fair without lots to eat. The old favorites are here along with some new food. The State Fair runs through August 21st.
