• Indiana Short Film Festival Accepting Submissions For Three-Day Event

A new name, logo and website has already begun to pay dividends for a popular film festival held in the fall in Hendricks County.

The Indiana Short Film Festival (formerly the Film Festival of Hendricks County), which is the only event solely dedicated to short films in the Central Indiana region, is now accepting submissions through July 1 for its three-day event in October.

“We wanted people to realize it is open to filmmakers everywhere, so we felt giving it a more regional title would help that,” said Loren Malloy, co-founder of the event. “Changing it to the Indiana Short Film Festival is already paying dividends as we received interest from independent filmmakers before doing any marketing, which never happened before.”

All movies must be under 40 minutes to qualify as a short film, and a cash award will be given for the grand jury winner. Nine adult-directed films and a handful of student-directed films from independent film makers from across the U.S. and even outside the country participated last year providing an eclectic mix of short films.

In its third year, the Indiana Short Film Festival does not charge a fee to enter a film, and submissions will be accepted for all genres through July 1.

A special student-directed category will again be a part of this year’s festival for students in grades 12 and under. That student category is only open to Indiana residents.

The event will again be held at The Royal Theater on the Hendricks County Courthouse Square in Danville and will be open to the public. The three-day festival will occur Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 11-13.

For more information or to submit a film, go to the festival’s new website at www.InShortFilmFest.com.
