• Indiana Secretary of State voter fraud trial begins today

Jury selection for the criminal trial of Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White begins today.

White faces seven felony counts including voter fraud and theft. Hamilton County Superior Court Judge Steven Nation has reserved this week for jury selection. However, White’s defense attorney, Carl Brizzi, does not expect it will take that long to seat the jury.

Heading into court, Brizzi said his client’s freedom, professional life, family and reputation are at stake. Brizzi believes the charges filed against the secretary of state were politically motivated.

Brizzi says White is in great spirits but the charges and upcoming trial have taken a great toll on White and his family.

The prosecution team has declined to comment on the case until a verdict is reached.

More than 60 Hamilton County registered voters will be summoned to the jury pool each day until both sides agree upon and seat the 12 jurors and two alternates.
