In another sectional game that pitted two teams that had faced each other less than two weeks ago, Bethesda Christian hosted the Deaf Hoosiers of Indiana Deaf last night. Two weeks ago, Indiana Deaf came away with a 37-24 victory over the Lady Patriots. This time around the game was tighter but the result was the same as Bethesda Christian bows out in the first round of the sectionals against Indiana Deaf 42-38.

Indiana Deaf (17-4) began the game on a 12-0 run before Bethesda’s Cassie Mitchell ended the scoring drought for the Lady Patriots with a bucket just before the first quarter buzzer went off.

The second quarter played out as if the teams had swapped jerseys with the Deaf Hoosiers falling ice cold as Bethesda Christian (8-11) held their opponent to only 2 points in the quarter and went in to the locker room at the half trailing Indiana Deaf 14-13.

The Deaf Hoosiers made a defensive change at the half that forced the Patriots in to 15 second half turnovers as Indiana Deaf went on an 11-0 run over the final 2:40 of the third quarter to take an 11 point lead in to the final period.

The Patriots responded and were down 39-36 in the final minute and a half but the three points were as close as Bethesda could get.

Aubree Trapp and Cassie Mitchell led Bethesda Chistian with 11 points apiece while Indiana Deaf’s TraciAnn Hoglind had a game high 21 points with 15 of those points coming in the second half.

Bethesda wraps up their season with an 8-11 record.
