• IMPD seeks impersonation suspect

    January 12, 2012 No comments

Police are looking for a man accused of impersonating a building inspector to get thousands of dollars from an older woman.

The woman told police the man came to her home and said she owed the city fines because she used an unlicensed contractor to repair her home.

Over a period of weeks, she gave the man about $5,000 for what she thought were fines. He told her to write the checks out to his supervisor — Mark Hoffman.

Police say the man lying to the woman was Mark Hoffman, and he doesn’t work for the city. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials say they worry Hoffman will victimize others if he’s not arrested.

IMPD officials say the 39 year old Hoffman was living in the 4600 block of West Perry Street in November and December but has since moved. Police believe he’s with 27-year-old Sabrina Koenig. The two have ties to Mars Hill and Beech Grove.

Anyone with information about Hoffman’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
