IHSAA Makes Class Changes
February 23, 2011 No commentsThe IHSAA has announced some changes to classes of various sports with some schools moving up and some moving down. In Hendricks County, only one school is affected as Tri-West will move up from class 2A to class 3A in football, baseball, basketball, softball and volleyball beginning next year.
The IHSAA holds a review every two years to determine what class a school will compete in. Classes are based upon enrollment though per an IHSAA by-law, any school has the option to move up in class on a probationary period during a two-year cycle.
The IHSAA also announced that beginning next season there will be two classes for boy’s and girl’s soccer instead of the single class system that had been in place.
In Hendricks County, Brownsburg, Avon, Plainfield and Danville will now compete in the new class 2A in soccer while Tri-West, Cascade and Bethesda Christian will compete in Class A.
The IHSAA announced that new sectional pairings based on the revised classes for all sports would be released this spring.
