PRACTICE SCHEDULE:  The Ice is scheduled to practice at the St. Vincent Sports Rink at the Pepsi Coliseum Monday from 2:45-4:15 pm and Tuesday from 10-11:30 am.

BLACK HAWK CAGING:  The Ice swept their best-of-three first round series with Waterloo with a 4-0 victory on Thursday followed by a 6-3 win on Friday from Pepsi Coliseum.  Casey DeSmith tossed a 38-save shutout on Thursday and Indy erupted for three goals in the second period with markers credited to Dan Cesarz, Brian Ferlin and David Johnstone.  Blake Coleman added a third period power play score and Daniil Tarasov handed out two assists.  The USHL’s top line of Coleman (G, A), Tarasov (G, 2A) and Ferlin (3A) combined for eight points in Friday’s victory and DeSmith was solid again in net with 27 saves.  Sean Kuraly, Alex Barron, Cesarz and Johnstone also found the back of the net for the victors.

    LAST TWO CLARK CUP CHAMPS:

Rivalry Revisited:  One Eastern Conference semifinal features the last two Clark Cup winners in the 2009 Champion Ice and the reining 2010 Champion Green Bay Gamblers.  As three-seed Indiana took care of Waterloo last weekend, the two-seed Gamblers earned a first round bye after finishing the regular season second in the conference with a 41-15-4 record.  The two rivals have met in the playoffs on three other occasions with the Ice sporting an all-time playoff mark of 8-4 against Green Bay.  Indiana swept the Gamblers four games to zero in the 2007 playoffs and then the 2009 and 2010 playoff editions saw Indy and Green Bay exchange knock out blows in each of their paths to the Clark Cup Championship.  The Ice defeated the Gamblers in the 2009 East Division Finals three games to one and the Gamblers followed the same course over Indiana in the 2010 East Division Finals.

Regular Season Shuffle:  The Ice was 1-3-0 against the Gamblers in the regular season, but three of the four games were decided by two goals or less.  Indy split the two games at the Pepsi Coliseum, while Green Bay was victorious in both Wisconsin contests.  The Gamblers held the Ice to just six goals in four games with Daniil Tarasov (G, A) and Sean Kuraly (2A) being the only two-point scorers.  Casey DeSmith deserved a better fate in net as he was the main goaltender of note with a 1-2-0 record, 3.01 GAA and a .913 SV%.  The duo of William Kessel (2G, 3A) and Austin Czarnik (G, 3A) combined for nine points to lead Green Bay offensively, while defenseman Andrew Welinski chipped in three goals.  Ryan McKay sparkled in net with a 3-0-0 record, 1.33 GAA and a .957 SV%.

Playoff Draws:  The Ice has made the playoffs in all seven years of their USHL existence and is 24-19 in postseason play which includes a 2009 Clark Cup Championship.  Under Coach Skjodt, Indy posted a 7-4 mark during the 2007 and 2008 playoff campaigns.  The Gamblers are the defending champs and have been a playoff beast the last two seasons with consecutive East Division Final appearances and a 13-6 record.  Overall, Green Bay is three-time Clark Cup Champions (1996, 2000, 2010).

Player Hustlers:  Indiana: Daniil Tarasov is riding a ten-game point streak dating back to the regular season and is tied for first in the USHL in playoff scoring (5 pts)…Blake Coleman has points in six straight games dating back to the regular season and he and Brian Ferlin are tied for third in playoff scoring with four points…Casey DeSmith registered the second shutout in Ice playoff history last Thursday and in his last two playoff seasons he owns a 2.26 GAA and a .930 SV% in ten games of work…Alex Barron scored his first goal in an Ice uniform in Friday’s playoff victory…Dan Cesarz and David Johnstone have goals in both playoff wins…Green Bay:  Austin Czarnik had five goals in his last five games entering the playoffs…Goaltender Adam Wilcox finished the regular season with wins in his last two starts to go along with a 1.00 GAA and a .957 SV%…Goaltender Ryan McKay led all USHL goaltenders in the regular season in GAA (2.00) and save percentage (.928).

Team Bingo:  Indiana: The Ice scored four power play goals and gave up one with the man advantage in their first two playoff games…Five of Indy’s ten playoff goals were scored in the second period…Green Bay:  Green Bay was an incredible 24-4-2 at home this year…The Gamblers closed out the regular season 4-5-1 in their last ten games…Green Bay was the top penalty killing unit in the regular season (92.5%).
