The Indiana Ice hope to extend their streak of nine consecutive road wins this weekend when they face off against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday night and the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Saturday. Both matches are set to start at 8:05 PM Eastern Standard Time.
Indiana (22-6-5) continues its reign at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, bolstered by a topsy-turvy 7-4 win over the Youngstown Phantoms on Wednesday afternoon. Seven different Icemen found the back of the net at Covelli Center, including newcomer Sam Kurker, who notched a goal and an assist in his first outing with the Ice. Five Indiana players enjoyed multiple-point games.
Friday marks the second and final meeting of the regular season between Indy and the Des Moines Buccaneers (13-17-3). The Ice disposed handily of the Buccaneers earlier this year in a tidy 6-1 victory. Scott Conway tops Indiana scorers with three points (2G, 1A) against Des Moines and Ice netminder Jason Pawloski stopped 19 of 20 shots in his only appearance against the Buccaneers for a .952 save percentage.
Indiana faces a familiar opponent Saturday night in Cedar Rapids (19-13-1). The Ice are 3-0-2 in five meetings with the RoughRiders, with Cedar Rapids claiming a 3-2 shootout victory in the most recent matchup. Indy points leader Conway leads the charge against the RoughRiders with six points (4G, 2A) while four Icemen have four points apiece against Cedar Rapids.
The Ice return to Pan Am Pavilion on Thursday, January 30 at 7:05 PM to host Team USA for “College Night”. College students who present a valid college ID are eligible to receive special $5 admission and $1 beer prices.
