• Historic Plainfield diner will be relocated

    November 26, 2012 No comments

The Plainfield town council has voted to move forward on a project to move the historic Oasis Diner to the Town Center.

Doug Huff and Don Rector approached the council last week about moving forward on the project. They had bid on the project to move the diner, as well as operate it.

Planning Director Joe James has been working to save the diner for nearly two years. The Oasis Diner was built in 1954 and is just east of Ronald Reagan Parkway, just inside Hendricks County.

James helped to secure a grant from Historic Landmarks to help move the diner to its new home. Historic Landmarks is a non-profit organization that fights to defend architecturally unique, historically significant, and communally cherished properties.
