    February 23, 2012 No comments

On Feb. 24 and 26, the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra will present three works by Beethoven: the Egmont Overture, Piano Concerto No. 5, and Symphony No. 5.

In keeping with this season’s theme of “Classical Hit Parade,” Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony ranks No. 1. Possibly the most famous motif in western classical music, the four dramatic notes that open the first movement seize the attention of every listener regardless of their age or level of sophistication, and the remainder of the symphony continues to hold the listener in thrall.

Amy Eggleston ofIndianapolisis the featured artist. She is the professional staff accompanist for theUniversityofIndianapolis; teaches Italian, German, French, and English for singers; and is the musical director of an opera workshop. She holds the responsibilities of assistant conductor and accompanist for the Hendricks Symphonic Choir as well as director of the Saint Joan of Arc Children’s Choir.

Concert times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Sunday, performed at Avon Middle School South, 7199 E. U.S. 36. Call 241-0750 for details and ticket information.
