• Hendricks Regional Health Achieves ACR Accreditation

Danville – Hendricks Regional Health recently received American College of Radiology Accreditation (ACR) in five diagnostic imaging modalities for its radiology services: mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and computated tomography (CT). The accreditation puts Hendricks Regional Health in the upper echelon of radiology care as only a few hospitals in Indiana carry this distinction in all imaging modalities.

The American College of Radiology is the largest professional organization for radiologists. Their goal is to promote the field of radiology and establish a set of high standards by which their members should follow. The organization’s accreditation process involves several requirements that must be met before a facility is accredited: certain prescribed policies and procedures must be in place; technologists performing the procedures must have passed a specific national registry test; and both phantom (a standard imaging object) and actual patient studies are reviewed by an expert panel of radiologists to insure that image quality meets stringent criteria regarding how well a
certain modality can resolve certain objects.

“Accreditation means that we have undergone a rigorous review process to meet accepted standards of care,” says Hendricks Regional Health director of radiology, Stanley Metzger. “This is a difficult process, taking months of preparation and review to attain. It really does separate us from other facilities and it lets our patients know that we are second to none in imaging services.”

Since 1962, Hendricks Regional Health has served as the area’s leading healthcare provider by delivering innovative care with a personal touch. Licensed by the Indiana State Department of Health and accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, Hendricks Regional Health staffs a full complement of physicians in 56 specialties at locations in Danville, Avon, Plainfield, Brownsburg and Lizton.
