An annual Hendricks County fund-raiser that has raised more than $500,000 over the past nine years will celebrate a milestone next month.

Registration is underway for the 10th Annual Wings of Golf Outing benefiting the United Way Agencies of Hendricks County. This premier golf event will be Wednesday, Aug. 15 at West Chase Golf Club in Brownsburg.

Susie Friend, executive director of the United Way of Hendricks County said, “The Wings of Golf provides a day of networking and fun for all participants and volunteers, while raising funds for United Way programs and services in Hendricks County.  The 10th annual Wings outing promises to be our best yet with a patriotic theme.”

This year’s event begins with registration at 10 a.m. and a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Cost to play is $100. That entry fee includes participation in a Florida Scramble with complimentary driving range, green fees, cart, lunch and dinner. You can enter a team or as an individual, and spots still remain. Visit www.WingsofGolf.com for more information about the event or to register online.

Several raffles, hole activities and other surprises also have become a staple of the event. Tickets for the large raffle drawing are now available from any Wings of Golf committee member and at the offices of the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau, 8 W. Main St., Danville.

In nine years, the event has raised $583,000 for the United Way Agencies of Hendricks County. Those proceeds aid local youth, seniors, disaster victims, domestic violence victims and so many more.

Honorary co-chairs for the 2012 event include former Indianapolis Colts executive Tom Zupancic and Secretary of State Connie Lawson. Non-golfers can still participate during the after party beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the course.

This year’s Wings of Golf Master Partners are Hendricks Regional Health, The Hendricks County Flyer, Hendricks Power Cooperative, Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau, State Bank of Lizton, Indianapolis Colts, Vectren and Duke Energy. Lunch and dinner for the event will be provided by Dawson’s Too Sticks & Stones restaurant.
