Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District Announces 2011 Tox-Away Days
March 18, 2011 No commentsThe Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District will again provide four Tox-Away Days for residents of Hendricks County throughout the spring, summer and fall. The events are an opportunity for residents to bring their household hazardous wastes, medical sharps, unwanted medicines, tires, appliances, computer components and electronics to be recycled or for proper disposal.
The 2011 Tox-Away Days will be held on April 2nd at the Brownsburg High School, June 4th at the Danville High School, August 13th at Hickory Elementary School in Avon and October 8th at Plainfield Middle School. Each event is open from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
Common examples of household hazardous wastes include: cleaners, antifreeze, fluorescent light bulbs (including CFLs), herbicides, pesticides, pool chemicals, oil-based paints and stains, fuels, mercury-containing items, medical sharps, batteries and adhesives. All household hazardous wastes are accepted free of charge and will be recycled or disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
Electronics, computer components, tires and appliances will also be accepted during the events. Some fees may apply depending on the number and type of items. Regulations prohibit businesses from using the events.
