Marina Keers was getting tired of hearing people in Hendricks County tell her “I didn’t know they did that at Hendricks County Senior Services”. She wanted to do something about it. So she decided to host a radio show on WXRB in Brownsburg. The show will be called Conversations About Living Young, with the first show featuring radio personality Shane Ray asking Keers the questions. After that, she will be the speaking with the experts in Hendricks County on subjects pertaining to life after retirement as well as the Senior Center itself. “I’m really excited about this program. One of the first shows we are going to have is about retiring versus repurposing. Your retirement could be 40 years long. So what are you going to do?” says Keers. Her guest on that subject will be Deanna Hindsley, who retired from The Hearth at Prestwick just last year.
Though Keers has never hosted a radio show before, Shane Ray says she is a natural. “Marina has a very disarming demeanor about her. She conducts the interviews to sound like she is secretly letting you in on the conversation. You can actually hear her light up when she talks about her passion for the Hendricks County Senior Services Center”.
The show will be sponsored by Hendricks Power Cooperative. “Hendricks Power Cooperative caters to all demographics, which includes a large number of senior members. It was a natural fit for us to support the Hendricks County Senior Services show, which will bring more awareness to the activities and resources available in the surrounding areas. It is a great facility and the staff is extremely helpful.” says HPC spokesperson Dana Servaes.
The show airs every Wednesday at 6pm on 1610 AM in Brownsburg or online at www.xrbradio.com, by clicking on the “Listen Now” button. You will also be able to hear past shows on the WXRB website.
