Hendricks County police and fire agencies will go head to head to fight hunger in the county at the first Everyday Souperheroes Cookoff.

The event takes place from 3-5 p.m. on May 6 in the Expo Hall at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex, 1900 E. Main St. in Danville

Police and fire personnel will cook up their best soups to raise funds for the Hendricks County Food Pantry Coalition. Chefs will compete for bragging rights and a traveling trophy.

The public is encouraged to attend and vote for their favorite soup. Admission is $1 or one canned good per soup ticket. Tickets are then exchanged for a bowl of soup.

During the event local band Bentley Driving Gurus will play classic rock covers. The band has members who are 911 dispatchers or have been in the past.
