Nyles Edwards 25 yard field goal with 6 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter lifted Avon to a 17-14 victory over Hamilton Southeastern. The win for the Orioles snapped a 6 game losing streak to the Royals.
Plainfield 29, Danville 26
Plainfield’s Auggie Blevins scored from 4 yards out with 27 seconds left to go in Friday night’s game at Danville to give the Quakers their 8th straight season opening win against the Warriors. Danville QB Scott Amor was 16 of 26 for 176 yards and a TD.
Crawfordsville 27, Cascade 7
Cascade stayed close with the visiting Athenians before Crawfordsville scored three times in the final quarter to defeat the Cadets 27-7. Cascade’s Colin Smith threw for 178 yards and scored the Cadets lone touchdown on a 13 yard run.
West Lafayette 9, Tri-West 7
After holding a lead over the host Red Devils of West Lafayette, Tri-West watched a 27 yard field goal sail through the uprights with 23 seconds left in the contest as the Bruins dropped their season opener 9-7 to West Lafayette. Bruin QB Jake Hendershot scores the lone Tri-West score on a 5 yard touchdown run while the Tri-West defense limited the Red Devils to three field goals.
Brownsburg 36, McCutcheon 9
Chase Dutra returned a punt 73 yards for a touchdown and freshman running back Toks Akinribade scored twice from 5 yards out as Brownsburg opened up their season Saturday afternoon with a 36-9 victory over the host McCutcheon Mavericks.
