The Hendricks County Extension Homemakers’ Quilt Club, in conjunction with the Home and Family Arts Open Class Show, will sponsor the “County Fair” Quilt-Block Contest.

They will accept blocks from 10 a.m. to noon July 16 and released from 9-10 a.m. July 23 at the Open Class exhibit.

Pre-registration is not required and there is no fee.

Blocks will be displayed and eligible for balloting by general viewing during open class exhibit hours. Balloting will conclude at 9 p.m. July 20 and the winning block will be announced with an award at 2 p.m. July 21 in Conference Room A and B during Homemaker’s Day.

There is not formal judging and the winner is chosen by the viewing public.

Blocks must be patchwork pieces or appliquéd of an existing pattern or a pattern you create with the “County Fair” theme, which is anything that you perceive of a county fair.

The block may be either machine or hand-pieced, and do not quilt block. The block-maker may choose the colors as desired. Block must be 12 and a half inches by 12 and a half inches, with a one-fourth inch seam allowance. Blocks must be made of 100 percent cotton.

Only one entry is allowed per person. Any block not conforming to all specified rules will not be considered in the “viewers choice” balloting.

For more information, call Loretta Anderson at 765-745-6645 or Pat Dallas at 765-745-5715.
