• Hendricks County County Convention and Visitors Bureau reminds residents of three key deadlines approaching

    Just a few days remain for potential bloggers, grant recipients and adult tourism scholarship hopefuls to apply for Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau opportunities.

    Anyone interested in any of these opportunities should not delay as deadlines to apply for each run out soon. They include:

    • Join a team of paid bloggers — The Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking area residents who are interested in experiencing and writing about county attractions, festivals and other fun activities for its tourism blog. Previous blogging or writing experience is preferred but not required. Applications can be found at www.TourHendricksCounty.com/Blog by clicking on “Blogger Applications” in the menu bar. Additional information about the position can be found in the Blogger Job Profile form in the Pressroom menu at www.TourHendricksCounty.comDeadline for applications is April 27.
    • Receive up to $2,500 in grant money — The Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau is again inviting Hendricks County businesses, organizations and even individuals with a good idea that promotes and encourages tourism to apply now for its Tourism Enhancement and Development Fund. Since the program’s inception in 2009, the HCCVB has awarded about $80,000 to various organizations throughout the county. The spring cycle’s application deadline is 5 p.m. April 27. Applicants can apply for a 1:1 match with the HCCVB contributing a maximum of $2,500 a project. To apply, visit the HCCVB offices at 8 W. Main St., Danville, or go online in the Pressroom menu under the TED Fund Grant Program at www.TourHendricksCounty.com.
    • Win a $1,000 Adult Tourism Scholarship — With more and more adults returning to school but struggling to find the funds to pay for it, the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau, in partnership with the Hendricks College Network, is again offering its $1,000 Adult Tourism Scholarship. The non-renewable scholarship is targeted for adults 23 or older who reside in Hendricks County and attend or plan to attend an accredited 2- to 4-year Indiana institution, pursuing a tourism/hospitality or business related field of study. Applicants also can qualify if they are currently employed in the tourism industry at lodging facilities, restaurants or visitor attractions. Applications are available for eligible Hendricks County residents online at www.TourHendricksCounty.com or at www.hendrickscollegenetwork.org. They can also be picked up in person at the HCCVB office, 8 W. Main St., Danville, or the Hendricks College Network office, 5250 E. U.S. 36, Suite 1000-5, Avon. The deadline to apply is May 1.
