• Hendricks County Commissioners approve rezoning requests

Hendricks County Commissioners approved rezoning two parcels of land to general business designations at Tuesday’s meeting.

The first is a 4.5-acre parcel just west of the State Road 75/U.S. 36 interchange, home of the New Winchester Veterinary Clinic.

Commissioners approved rezoning it from agriculture/residential to general business to allow the clinic to expand. Having a vet clinic there was a legally non-conforming use before the rezoning. Expansion under the ag/residential distinction would’ve been difficult under the law.

The Hendricks County Area Plan Commission gave a favorable recommendation to the rezoning, and there was no public remonstrance.

Commissioners also unanimously approved a rezoning request for an eight-tenths acre parcel at State Road 267, south of the Plainfield interchange where S.R. 267 makes a 90-degree turn to the west.

The property was zoned for single-family residential. Commissioners approved changing it to general business for purposes of operating an ATV/dirtbike sales and service shop there.

The land has had various uses over the years, most of which violated zoning ordinances.
