Hendricks County agencies receive $16,861.50 in tourism funding
Nine Hendricks County organizations received more than $16,000 in grant money this spring through the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau's Tourism Enhancement and Development Fund.
In its fourth year, the fund is used to promote events, enhance websites
and cover other costs that improve their attractions and encourage
    tourism within Hendricks County.
The HCCVB allotted $30,000 of its 2012 budget for the
program's two cycles in the spring and fall. In this cycle, the HCCVB
was able to allocate an additional $1,861.50 from a previously awarded
grant cycle that was refunded. Applications were received and reviewed
by an independent grant selection committee consisting of Hendricks
County Tourism Commission members, representatives from the Hendricks
County lodging community, HCCVB staff members, local tourism experts and
    representatives from local businesses.
The program offers 1:1 matching funds for successful
applications up to $2,500 per project. Tourism-related businesses
including not-for-profits, civic organizations, retail development
groups and collaborations are encouraged to apply for funding through
this program. Only businesses, entities, and events located in Hendricks
    County are eligible.
The Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau will again award
grant funds during the 2012 fall cycle, which opens Aug. 1. The HCCVB
also will conduct information sessions after the fall cycle begins.
Dates and times for those information sessions will be announced at a
later date. The deadline for applications for the fall cycle will be
    Sept. 28.
