• Hendricks Co. Home & Garden Show to Benefit Sheltering Wings

While Punxsutawney Phil may have gotten the forecast wrong, according to the calendar, spring is here. On March 22 and 23, the Hendricks County Home and Garden Show is kicking off spring with ideas to renew and refresh area homes and gardens.

The show, which takes place at the Exposition Hall at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex, 1900 E. Main St., Danville, will feature over 80 vendors. Local businesses to national brands will share the latest products and services related to home, gardening, remodeling and home décor, including information on home construction, landscaping, custom flooring, bathroom remodels, windows, home security systems and more.

“The Hendricks County Home and Garden Show is the perfect opportunity for people to get inspiration and practical advice to help them save time and money while improving their home and outdoor surroundings,” says Becky Homko, event organizer and owner of Today’s Business Services. “There’s a little bit of something for everyone, even the kids!”

Another unique feature of the show is 100 percent of the proceeds from the ticket sales go to support Sheltering Wings, a 24-hour emergency housing shelter, located in Danville, for women and children who are fleeing domestic violence.

“Since this is a home show, partnering with Sheltering Wings to help them with their needs just makes sense,” says Homko. “And I think attendees like to know that their money is going to help a good cause.”

The shelter has provided a safe home for over 2,400 women and children since it opened in 2001. In addition to the case management and mentoring programs the shelter provides to families in crisis, they also educate the community about the effects of domestic violence via presentations, shelter tours and other outreach programs to community groups, schools, churches and businesses.

Diggity Gourmet Dawgs, a food-and-beverage vendor at the show, also will be donating a portion of their sales to Sheltering Wings.

Other activities include various speakers sharing their expertise and exhibitor giveaways. The State Bank of Lizton will be registering area children and distributing backpacks for Lemonade Day, a youth entrepreneurship experience occurring statewide on May 18.

    Show hours are 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 22 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.

Pre-show tickets are available for $5 at Westside locations of Indiana Members Credit Union and the State Bank of Lizton. Also, tickets can be purchased online at www.HendricksHomeShow.com or at the door for $10.
