• Heavy rains and possibility of severe storms loom over central Indiana this weekend

A deluge of rain and the threat of severe storms loom as remnants of Hurricane Isaac push into central Indiana this weekend.

Clouds will begin to build up Friday, bringing the chance of a spotty shower throughout the afternoon.

Rain will begin to move in early Saturday, with the heaviest downpours coming that afternoon and evening into early Sunday.

There will be a break in the rain Sunday morning, but it will return that evening through much of the day Monday.

Central Indiana could see anywhere from 2 to 5 inches of rainfall in total, fueling a risk of localized flooding.

The National Weather Service has also placed nearly all of the state in a slight risk zone for severe weather over the weekend.

Besides the heavy rains, strong winds and the threat of isolated tornadoes are possible.

The rain will clear out by Tuesday with temperatures resting in the 80s next week.
