    August 02, 2012 No comments

The third annual Hendricks County Health & Safety Expo is from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at Hummel Park, 1500 S. Center St., in Plainfield.

Primary sponsors are the Hendricks County Health Department, Mental Health America of Hendricks County, Prevent Child Abuse Hendricks County, Tobacco Free Hendricks County, Children’s Bureau, Hendricks Regional Heath, and IU Health West Hospital.

The expo will feature a prescription drop off where attendees can bring unused or expired medications and have them properly disposed of by the Substance Abuse Task Force.

There will also be healthy food sampling, zumba demonstrations, one-mile and 5K fun runs hosted by the Hendricks County Parks and Recreation Department, health screenings sponsored by Hendricks Regional Health, bike helmet fittings sponsored by IU Health West Hospital, and fresh produce for sale.

The goal of the fair is to provide the community with a comprehensive view of services available to them through direct dialogue with organizations and providers. There will be about 40 exhibitors comprised of health care providers, social services organizations, public safety representatives, and other groups that help to promote healthy and safe lifestyles to local families.

There is no cost to attend.

XRB’s Shane Ray and Rob Kendall will also be on hand from 1 to 4 pm broadcasting live on 1610 AM XRB and  XRBradio.com.
