• Hague and Treanor to represent Indians in tonight’s AAA All-Star game

The National League won their second All-Star game in a row last night behind some excellent pitching and Milwaukee Brewers slugger Prince Fielder’s three run bomb to take the Mid-Summer Classic 5-1 over the American League. Now it’s the minor leagues turn as Salt Lake City will host the AAA All-Star game tonight.

Among the members of the International League roster are two Indianapolis Indians. First baseman Matt Hague will start tonight for the International League. Hague is currently batting .321 for the Tribe with eight home runs and forty-eight runs driven in.

Indians skipper Dean Treanor is also in Utah as he was named a coach for the IL squad by IL manager Mike Sarbaugh of the Columbus Clippers.

While Hague is the only Indians team member to make this year’s All-Star game, the Tribe could have been further represented if not for some recent call-ups by the parent club Pittsburgh Pirates.

Former Indians outfielder Alex Presley would have been a likely candidate for tonight’s game. Presley, the Pirates minor league hitter of the year two seasons running, was batting .336 with eight homers and thirty-six runs batted in before his call-up on June 27th. Since his promotion Presley has appeared in 13 games with the Pirates hitting for a .365 average with a home run and six RBI.

Tonight’s game from Salt Lake City can be seen on the MLB network at 9:00.
