• Frazee Gardens hosts tailgate event to benefit Brownsburg teacher’s aide

    September 09, 2011 No comments

Frazee Gardens is intent on using the return of football season to help support Eric Green, a Brownsburg High School graduate who was paralyzed from the chest down after crashing his dirt bike in Parke County in June of 2010.

Green, now 23, has been working as a teacher’s aide at Reagan Elementary School in Brownsburg since April.

    The fundraiser runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 9 to 11.

It is aimed at providing assistance for a young man in need, and to celebrate the kickoff of another NFL season that will eventually culminate in Indianapolis with the Super Bowl. With the pigskin in mind, Frazee Gardens will give $5 off of any purchase of $20 or more to customers who simply wear the jersey of a favorite team.

Each night is to be dedicated to the team playing that day. Friday is for high school teams, Saturday is for college teams, and Sundays is for NFL teams.

Two Colts tickets for the Oct. 9 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs will be raffled off in an additional effort to aid Green.

Indy Cheez Steak will be providing food on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be cornhole boards set up in an effort to get customers into the tailgating spirit.

As for Green, he continues to persevere despite his condition. He works three days a week in Chris Chadd’s class, assisting students with math.

Eventually, Chadd said she hopes the class can help provide Green with a “helper monkey,” which is a unique program that aids paralysis victims by giving them a monkey that is trained to help with daily tasks that they cannot do for themselves.

Frazee Gardens is at 3480 N. S.R. 267, Brownsburg. For more information on the fundraising event, call 858-8440 or visit the website at www.frazeegardens.net.
