Former Indianapolis west side fast-food restaurant destroyed in explosion
January 10, 2012 No commentsAn explosion early Monday evening at a former fast-food restaurant on Indianapolis’ Far Westside sent smoke billowing skyward and debris landing up to 150 feet from the building.
No one was injured but the building was destroyed, and neighboring businesses’ buildings had some minor damage, according to Michael Pruitt, a spokesman for the Wayne Township Fire Department.
The destroyed building in the 6700 block of West Washington Street was being renovated for a nail salon and a restaurant to share, he said. The building had once housed a doughnut shop and a business dealing in cash advances and short-term loans.
Pruitt said the investigation continued late Monday to determine what caused the explosion and fire. There was no immediate estimate on the cost of the damage.
