• Former Bulldog Akinribade to receive special recognition award

    July 22, 2011 No comments

Former Brownsburg football standout AJ Akinribade has been selected by the National Football Foundation to receive a special recognition award for his ability to overcome setbacks in his life and still become a great student, person and football player. The scars on his stomach tell the story.

As a kid, AJ suffered through approximately 13 abdominal surgeries to repair his digestive system. While living in Africa it was decided to fly him to New York for the surgeries that would be needed. After completion of the medical treatment his parents brought him to Indiana. The family eventually came to Brownsburg searching for better environment for AJ.

During his time at Brownsburg High School, Akinribade was a three year letterman, three year all conference player, an IFCA 5A All state selection and was selected to play in the 2011 Grange Insurance/IFCA North-South All-Star Game. Akinribade will be attending Wabash College in the fall and is set to continue his football career at linebacker for the Little Giants.
