• First-ever Event to Showcase Hendricks, Morgan County Artists

    September 28, 2012 No comments

Beautiful displays, one-of-a-kind art pieces from the finest artists in Hendricks and Morgan counties, demonstrations and more will highlight a first-ever, premiere event in Hendricks County.

The Hendricks County Artisan Marketplace will showcase 34 artisans including many award winners under one roof from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 at Primo West by Five Star Catering, 2353 Perry Road, Plainfield.

Those juried artists will represent numerous artistic genres including studio art, glass, wood, fiber, ceramics, sculpture, photography, music, food and more with an array of price points from as low as $5 to pieces in the thousands of dollars.

This upscale event, which is hosted by the Hendricks County Arts Council and supported by the Rural Routes to Main Street Cultural Trail and the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau, will begin with a preview event and breakfast for sponsors, business leaders and other VIP guests from 8 to 9 a.m.

“The invited business viewing at the beginning of the day is an innovative step taken to perhaps develop wholesale sales to retail businesses as well as help businesses become aware of what is available locally in the way of performing, visual, creative and culinary art,” said Stephen King, a local artist and marketplace committee member. “But beyond that, the prime goal for this day and for any artisan is exposure.  So, we are all excited to have an event like this to get our work before the public. It’s great to see Hendricks County developing into a destination for the arts.”

Organizers envision business leaders coming to this event to fill their offices with local art as well as residents finding items for their home. Each booth will be draped in black linens and will include special lighting to showcase exclusive pieces.

Visitors will have an opportunity to meet the artists, hear their stories and inspirations, witness art created before their eyes, purchase items or order artwork based on their specifications and sample local food, desserts and locally crafted brews. Live entertainment, featuring a grand piano, also will entertain guests throughout the day.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $3 a person. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Hendricks County Arts Council. For more information, call (317) 718-8750 or go online to www.HendricksCountyArts.org.
