• Fire truck crash blocks road in Plainfield

    A fire department vehicle was involved in an accident shortly after a fire southwest of Plainfield on Friday night, and traffic was still clogged an hour later.

    The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Main Street, U.S. 40. Emergency officials said at about 10:30 that traffic was still restricted in the area, but couldn’t give details as to what roads were affected. By 11:30, the scene had been cleared.

    Police officials said several people were injured in the accident, but none were believed to be seriously hurt.

    Fire crews had been called to a fire in the same area about half an hour earlier.
