Police are investigating an fight overnight that left one man stabbed and another hospitalized after pre-race partying got out-of-hand early this morning.

Speedway Police at the scene said witnesses, including an Indianapolis Motor Speedway security guard, told them a small group of “two or three” men joined a larger group of campers in the Coke Lot near 2800 N. Georgetown Road.

When members of the larger group asked the smaller group to leave their area around 1:00 a.m., one man responded by stabbing another.

Witnesses told police that friends of the stabbed man reacted by beating the man believed to be the stabber. Both men were taken by ambulance to separate hospitals.

Police have not released the identities of the men involved, and their investigation is ongoing.
