Fight breaks out after pedestrian is struck in Broad Ripple
May 10, 2012 No commentsOne woman is recovering from injuries she received after being struck by a car in Broad Ripple early Thursday morning.
The woman was struck along College near the Vogue around 3:00 a.m. Emergency crews responded and called for help with the crowd that had gathered.
A person who saw the incident told WTHR Channel 13 that the woman was hit and thrown off the hood of the car. She has been taken to the hospital. Authorities at the scene indicated she was in serious but stable condition, and talking to investigators at IU Health Methodist Hospital.
The witness said the driver got out the car and remained on the scene, talking to police. He was eventually taken away in handcuffs.
After the accident, several fights broke out and at least a dozen IMPD units responded for crowd control.
Police cars had College Avenue closed just south of Broad Ripple Avenue after the incident while accident investigators gathered evidence at the scene.
The street reopened to normal traffic at 5:45 a.m.
