• Fever’s Slide Hits Three

    August 04, 2010 No comments

A little over a week ago, the Indiana Fever were in first place in the Eastern Conference
as the WNBA season winds down looking at possible home court advantage in the
playoffs. But after the Fever’s 82-72 loss against the New York Liberty last night at
Conseco Fieldhouse, Indiana is now tied for second place with the Washington Mystics
and a full game behind the Atlanta Dream.

The Liberty took advantage of a shaky Indiana defense to hit for 12 of 18 from behind
    the arc.

New York led by 11 at halftime but Indiana rallied to cut the deficit to 52-51 late in the
third quarter but could not overtake New York as Nicole Powell of the Liberty hit six
three pointers for New York and finished with a team high 20 points for the game.
Indiana’s Tamika Catching’s finished with 19 points and six rebounds. Catching’s
was named the WNBA Eastern Conference player of the month for July and also had
one assist in the game to make her the first player in WNBA history to amass 2,000
    rebounds and 1,000 assists.

Indiana will travel to Atlanta to play the division leading Dream on Friday with a tip-off
    scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
