I love it here because the fans have been great to us, the way the town of Brownsburg treats us, the county, the state – and by the way, I am not running for mayor!

     Shane Ray:

I was going to say that it looked like you were running for office with all the hands you have been shaking today.

    John Force:

It’s an honor and God loves me when I’m in Brownsburg…but we’re really excited about it. It’s really about the next generation. You know my daughter, my son-in-law – you know I’m getting up there. I’m going on a ‘hundred – I’m gonna keep doing this for a long time. I’m gonna keep going. Even with all the catastrophic things that have gone on in my life, and this economy, we just keep bouncing back. It’s the Mac Tools Nationals and we have six Mustangs in it. Boy, I hope one of them gets it – I hope its JFR. But it’s just a great time for me when the fans are happy. Within the town of Brownsburg, the police are everywhere making sure we stay safe.  

       In responding to a fan’s comments about the future of racing teams continuing to make Brownsburg a 2^nd home, Force had this to day:

    John Force:

The only problem I have right now is Prudhomme has moved out of here, but he’ll be back. Where is he going to go? He doesn’t know anything but this (racing). This is all we’ve ever done. What is he going to do? Go home and mow the grass?”

        The 68 year old Prudhomme retired from drag racing earlier this year.

Representatives from the Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District have been fortunate to meet many individuals in the community that share the same values and goals as the District. These individuals come from many different backgrounds and organizations. Examples include teachers who reuse household items for lesson plans to employees of local businesses who spearhead work recycling programs. Whether it is part of their job or a personal commitment, the Hendricks County Solid Waste Management District wants to recognize and applaud community members for the hard work they have done providing environmental education and promoting responsible waste management in the Hendricks County community.

This year the District has developed an Environmental Education Award to recognize those individuals whose work in the community furthers the District’s mission. The District is now accepting nominations for the first annual Environmental Education Award. Nomination forms are available at the District’s website HendricksSolidWaste.com).  The forms should be completed and returned no later than October 31^st, 2010. The selected recipient will be presented with the award at the District’s Board Meeting on December 21, 2010. Community residents interested in nominating themselves or someone else should complete the nomination form and return it to:

Today, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Indiana State Police troopers were flying eradication patrols in the Indianapolis area and located alleged marijuana plants in a fence line on the property at 1933 Kingbridge  Street.

While the troopers in the helicopter observed the plants until ground units could arrive, a man emerged from the residence and attempted to pull the plants. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Southeast units arrived and secured the suspect until the arrival of a trooper.

Allen L. Brooks, 53, of Indianapolis was arrested at the scene and charged with cultivating marijuana. He was transported to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center and incarcerated without incident.

Senior Trooper Danny Madison, of the Drug Enforcement Section, obtained a search warrant for the residence and located approximately three pounds of processed marijuana, ten plants and five guns. The processed marijuana has a street value of $5,000 dollars.

With the score tied at 5-5 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Presley lined his sixth triple of the season off the 405-foot marker in deep center field to plate Akinori Iwamura and give Indianapolis a lead they would never relinquish at 6-5.

Before Presley's two-out, run-scoring triple gave Indianapolis the lead for good, the Bats jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage just three batters into the top half of the first inning. After a leadoff single followed by a double, Danny Dorn hit his 13th home run of the year to give Louisville a quick three-run cushion.

Indianapolis responded with a tally of its own in bottom of the first inning when RF Brandon Moss lined a one-out RBI single to right field to cut Louisville's lead to 3-1.

After the Bats reclaimed their three-run cushion when Dorn collected his fourth RBI of the contest with a two-out, run-scoring single in the second, the Tribe struck for four, two-out runs in the fourth to take their first advantage of the game at 5-4.

Despite allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings of work, Indians' LHP Dana Eveland struck out a season-high nine batters. In relief of Eveland, LHP Justin Thomas  earned his fifth win of the season after logging two strong innings, while Steven Jackson collected his ninth hold of the year before RHP Jean Machi escaped a ninth inning jam to earn his 21st save.

Louisville starter Chad Reineke  was strapped with his ninth loss of the season after he allowed six runs on eight hits in six innings of work.

Indianapolis continues its final home series of the season against the Louisville Bats on Friday, September 3 at 7:15 p.m. RHP Mike Crotta is expected to get the start for the Tribe, while LHP Tom Cochran is the probable starter for the Bats.

Fever forward Tamika Catchings twice missed layups in the closing 25 seconds, and either one would have tied the score.

Coach Lin Dunn complained Catchings was fouled each time and said she would risk being fined for saying so.

Katie Douglas scored 24 points -- all in the first three quarters -- and Catchings 21 for the Fever. Catchings was visibly upset in the postgame news conference, but more so about the Fever's failure than the no-calls.

Backup center Kia Vaughn made a free throw with 8.9 seconds left to give the Liberty a three-point lead, but she missed the second attempt. The Fever's Briann January missed a potential tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds.

The Fever led 70-65 with six minutes left but were overtaken because of Pondexter, who scored five points in the final 78 seconds. Her rainbow hoop with 28 seconds left put the Liberty ahead 76-74.

The No. 2-seeded Liberty will open the best-of-three Eastern Conference finals Sunday at Madison Square Garden against the No. 4-seeded Atlanta Dream.
