February 08, 2012 No commentsDecatur Central hit nine three pointers while the Lady Orioles committed 22 turnovers as Avon finished their season with an opening round loss in the Ben Davis Sectional falling to the Hawks 51-43.
Avon (6-15) withstood the Hawks three-point barrage to lead by as much as seven in the second quarter. But Decatur Central (8-12) went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 20 at the half.
The Orioles would lead one more time at 28-27 in the third quarter before Decatur Central went on a 10-2 run to lead 37-30.
Jill Steinmetz brought the Orioles to within four points after she buried a three-pointer to start the fourth period, but turnovers and sloppy defense would prevent Avon from getting any closer.
Steinmetz finished the game with 16 points to lead all scorers. The Lady Orioles finished their season with a 6-15 record.
