The Danville Community Education Foundation (DCEF) is hosting a Technology Surplus Sale on from 9 a.m. to noon June 18 at Danville Community High School.

Items for sale include Dell Optiplex GX 270 desktop computers, various printers, overhead projectors, technology carts, head phones, computer bags, and other miscellaneous computer items.

All of the equipment for sale was used in the classrooms last year and is thought to be in good working condition. Items available for sale are about six years old and have been removed from the classroom only because newer technology items have been put into the classrooms.

Prices start at $5 for some items and go up to $75 for the Dell computers. The Dell computers include a keyboard, but they do not include a mouse or monitor. The computers also include, 2.80 GHz processors, 512 MB RAM, 40 GM hard drive, Windows XP operating system, Open Office basic applications, and a network card for cable or DSL Modem Internet access.

Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis and a limited number of items are available. Customers will be able to test drive most equipment before they purchase it. No refunds or exchanges are permitted and no post-sale support of the equipment will be available from the school. Cash is the only form of payment accepted.

DCEF is a non-profit corporation that administers grants to faculty members for non-traditional student learning opportunities and scholarships to graduating Danville Community High School students. Funding for the grants and scholarships is earned through community fundraisers and corporate donations. DCEF has awarded more than $240,000 to Danville Community School teachers and students since its inception in 1997.
