Relevate, a relationship marketing company in Danville, IN, awarded a total of three scholarships equaling $1000 to three Hendricks County high school seniors who have demonstrated excellence in volunteerism and leadership and who are committed to making a difference in their community and making the world a better place.

    The scholarship recipients follow:

    • Kathleen Wiegand – Plainfield High School – attending Xavier University – field of study: Mathematics and/or Physics
    • Kendra Luckey – Danville High School – attending Holy Cross College – field of study: education
    • Gina Guthrie – Danville High School – attending Greenville College (IL) – field of study: biology

A social worker at heart, Serina Kelly, owner of Relevate, has worked with several non-profits both as an employee and as a volunteer since she was a teenager and believes volunteering is a great way for students to gain real-world experience and really make a true difference in this world.

Kelly stated, “I was very fortunate many years ago to be given a scholarship to attend West Virginia University through the Pardee and Curtain scholarship program through my high school. It has been a dream of mine to be able to help a student attend college or a professional trade school.”

This is the first year her company offered the scholarship, which was supposed to be only one $500 scholarship to begin with, but the scholarship committee felt these three seniors deserved recognition for their hard work and dedication through volunteering that they decided to offer a $500 scholarship, along with two smaller scholarships. It is Kelly’s goal to offer even more and larger scholarships in the future as her business grows.
