• Danville announces Community Award nominees

    Voting is now open for The Greater Danville Chamber of Commerce Annual Community Awards.

    Each year the chamber gives awards to one winner in each of six categories: Public Servant, Senior Citizen, Community Servant, Chamber Member, Educator of the Year, and Business Leader, at their December meeting. This year’s award ceremony is 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex, 1900 E. Main St., Danville. Cost to attend is $8 and reservations are required. Call 745-0670 to RSVP.

    Those nominated this year are:

    Public Servant – Det. Jim Helton, Danville Police Department; Danville Parks Department; Kathy Montague, Danville Water Department; and Laura Parker, Danville assistant town manager.

    Senior Citizen – Beth Ann Leach, Hendricks County Senior Services; and Norm Gulley.

    Educator of the Year – Richard Burrows, Danville Community High School; Barbara Schaffer, Danville Middle School; Debbie Stanfill, Danville South Elementary; and Janet Stephenson, Danville South Elementary.

    Business Leader of the Year – Dr. Brett and Jennifer McPeek, Danville Chiropractic; Steve Bahr, Duke Energy; Jack Klemeyer, GYB Coaching; and Ron Bockstahler, Amata, Inc.

    Community Servant – Kathy Stamper, Rex Dugan, Sally Lawson, and Betty Bartley.

    Chamber Member of the Year – Sycamore Services; Debbie Konter, Lane Realty; and Gene Whitaker, AFLAC.
