Four Warriors scored in double figures as Danville took advantage of some very sloppy ball handling by the host Quakers defeating Plainfield 70-48 in a first round matchup of the Boys Hendricks County Tournament.

Plainfield (0-9) kept things close at the end of the first period when Luke Jones hit a three just before the buzzer to keep the Quakers close at 20-17. But sloppy ball handling led to easy transition baskets for Danville (5-3) who outscored Plainfield 22-7 in the second quarter on their way to a 42-24 at the half.

Quaker head coach Clay Bolser’s dissatisfaction with his teams penchant for turnovers in the first half led to four new players starting the second half but Danville continued to apply the pressure and extended their lead to 62-35 after three periods.

Avery Motes led the Warriors with 16 points and forward Tyler Ross finished the game with 14 points. Nick Thurston and Scott Amor also finished in double figures for Danville.

Plainfield’s Luke Jones led all scorers with 20 points.

The tournament now moves to Danville’s home court where the Warriors will face Brownsburg in the winner’s bracket. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.
