• Crawfordsville Rd. ramp to I-465 remains closed after yesterday’s tanker crash

Officials were expecting several hours of work to repave a busy ramp on Interstate 465 after a tanker crash closed it Wednesday. INDOT officials said drivers should plan to avoid the area of Crawfordsville road and I-465 today and even then the intersection could remain closed.

Shawn Sullivan of Delphi died Wednesday when his tanker truck overturned on the northbound entrance ramp to Interstate 465 from Crawfordsville Road.

Indiana Department of Transportation officials say they’re now debating whether to repair the temporary ramp, where the crash occurred, or hurry to finish the permanent ramp that’s been under construction.

An INDOT representative told WISH-TV that today’s commutes, both in the morning and the evening, are still up in the air.

Harry Maginity told Channel 8 that INDOT wouldn’t know until sometime this morning what the pavement looks like and if they are going to be able to open that up to traffic or not. If INDOT’s contractor has to replace that pavement, it could be a 6-8 hour job, which could affect this afternoon’s rush.”

INDOT suggests the following detour: From Crawfordsville Road, take High School Road north to 38th Street, then use the 38th entrance to I-465.
