• Colts Starters to See More Action Tonight

    August 26, 2010 No comments

The Colts are 16-29 in the preseason since 2000. But in the next-to-last preseason game, when starters generally play into the third quarter, they are 6-4.

Coach Jim Caldwell has treated the week similar to a normal week during the regular season. It’s to help the players transition from training camp to the regular- season regimen.

In the first two preseason games, quarterback Peyton Manning has led seven drives, taken 37 snaps and attempted 25 passes. His workload tonight could exceed that.

Manning and most of the offensive and defensive starters are expected to play the first half, retire to the locker room and make any necessary adjustments, then return for at least the first series of the third quarter.
The Packers should follow a similar game plan. Coach Mike McCarthy is expected to play his starters into the third quarter.

The Colts listed the following players as unlikely to play tonight: TE Dallas Clark, OT Charlie Johnson, DBs Jerraud Powers and Marcus McCauley, RB/KR Devin Moore and C Jeff Saturday.
