Colts Starters Impress, Reserves…Not So Much
August 16, 2010 No commentsThe Indianapolis Colts opened the pre-season sporting throwback uniforms and as far as the first team offense and defense was concerned, throw back play as the first teamers accounted for 10 points and held the visiting San Francisco 49’ers scoreless to jump out to a quick 10-0 lead.
An Adam Viatieri 21 yard field goal and a Joseph Addai 7 yard touchdown run capped off the only two drives that the Colts offensive starters participated in. Peyton Manning went 8 for 10 and threw to 6 different receivers before calling it a day.
After that, Colts fans had plenty to be concerned about as the backups did nothing to distinguish themselves as Curtis Painter entered the game for Manning and went 9 of 19 for 64 yards with 3 interceptions and one fumble. To help the 49’ers take the lead and go on to cruise to the 37-17 victory.
The loss was the Colts 20th pre-season loss in their last 24 games.
The Colts have a short turnaround as they will play the Buffalo Bills Thursday night in a game that will be played in Toronto Canada.
