• Clippers blank Tribe 4-0

Columbus starting pitcher Chris Seddon struck out five over six scoreless innings, before relievers Hector Ambriz and Jeremy Accardo combined for three innings of scoreless relief to finish out the game and give the Clippers a 4-0 victory over the Indianapolis Indians on Thursday afternoon at Victory Field.

Seddon wasn’t perfect in earning his second victory of the season, allowing six hits in his six innings, but stranded five Indians batters and induced a double play, preventing any Indianapolis baserunner from reaching third base.

Columbus gave Seddon an early lead, scoring in the second inning on C Matt Pagnozzi’s RBI double.

┬áThe Clippers scored three more runs in the third inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Cord Phelps and Lonnie Chisenhall. Chisenhall would later score the final run of the inning and game on Trevor Crowe’s two-out single.

Columbus scored all of its runs against Tribe starter Daniel McCutchen who, with the loss, evened up his record at 1-1 on the young season. McCutcheon was thrust into the starting role due to the absence of Brad Lincoln, who was recalled by Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

The Tribe’s bullpen put together a stellar performance while pitching the final 6.2 innings of the game. Tribe newcomers LHP Kris Johnson and RHP Tim Alderson combined to strikeout five over 5.2 innings of relief, while LHP Daniel Moskos allowed two Clippers to reach base but stranded them both while pitching the ninth.

The Indians put nine hits — all singles — on the board but couldn’t capitalize in any inning as they left eight men on base and batted 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

The Indians and Clippers will wrap up their four-game set tonight at Victory Field, with the first pitch slated for 7:15 p.m. Indianapolis expects to send LHP Jo-Jo Reyes to the mound in search of a series split while Columbus will likely counter with RHP Zach McAllister.
